Institute of Trade Development provides training and consultancy services to organizations in both public and private sectors. The main objectives is to assist organizations grow and develop through management improvement, information dissemination and also competency development. The firm is competent in carrying out staff training in Management, Public Procurement, Purchasing and Supply Chain Management, Public Relations and Human Resource Development, Strategic Management, Public Finance and Budgetary Systems, Performance Evaluation, Marketing Strategy Development, Knowledge Management and Learning Organization, information dissemination among others. ITD provide experiential learning through benchmarking programmes which help local companies learn from other companies and institutions from outside Kenya. ITD has organized benchmarking programmes since 2004 to Egypt for sectors in agriculture, tourism, water and sanitation, energy and transportation infrastructure. In Canada we have organized programme relating to oil exploration for Kenya and Rwanda. The firm has professionals who are highly qualified academically with many years of practical experience in both public and private sectors.

Since establishment, Institute of Trade Development has made significant contribution in the area of trade development in the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) region. Its role has expanded substantially as a result of increased client demand by countries of the region. Since 1993, a number of organizations from various countries have participated in the programmes offered by ITD. The countries are: - Botswana, Burundi, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
